Designations of tyres

Under operating international agreements the size of tyres is resulted in millimetres or, as in our case, in millimetres and in inches. Designations 195/65 R 15 91 H or 205/60 R 15 90 V mean the following:

195 or 205: width of tyres in not loaded condition in mm.

65, 60, 55: a parity of height of tyres and their width = 65: 100, 60: 100 or 55: 100. Old radial tyres which are not put any more on Audi A4, have a parity of height of tyres and their width 80: 100. Accordingly more low a parity of height and width in tyres with a designation 65, 60 and 55.

R: a designation of a design of the tyre as radial.
15: internal diameter of the tyre in inches (”).
90 or 91: a designation of bearing ability.
Q: admissible maximum speed to 160 km/h – a class of speed for usual tyres M + S.
S: the maximum speed to 180 km/h.
T: the maximum speed to 190 km/h – the maximum speed for tyres M + S.
Н: to 210 km/h.
V: to 240 km/h.
W: to 270 km/h.
Z: over 270 km/h.
