The self-help in work with the generator and a pressure regulator
Maintenance service of the generator of an alternating current is not provided if to exclude extremely seldom arising necessity for replacement of graphite brushes. More serious damages cannot be eliminated by means of amateur means.

To uncover (2) generators of firm Bosch, ослабьте three screws with crosswise heads (1), remove a wire In + from a cut finger (3) and take out from grooves fixing ledges (arrows). |

The regulator of pressure (2) keeps on two screws with crosswise heads (1). Figure "3" designates an axis of sliding contact in the generator. |

Check of pressure of gymnastics

- Connect between плюсовым a pole of the generator and in weight the voltmeter.
- Start the engine on average turns.
- At a serviceable regulator of pressure the device will show approximately from 13,3 to 14,6 Century
- If it not so check up graphite brushes or replace a regulator.

Check of graphite brushes

- Disconnect a minus pole of the accumulator.
- Depending on car model provide access to the back party of the generator (for example, dismantle a broad tank or facing of an impellent compartment) or dismantle the generator.
- Dismantle a cover behind on the generator.
- Remove a regulator from the generator. For this purpose ослабьте both fixing screws.
- A little cast away a regulator that graphite brushes did not hang.
- Measure a ledge of graphite brushes: new graphite brushes have length about 13 mm; size of deterioration of 5 mm.

Replacement of graphite brushes
Replacement of graphite brushes in modern generators is not provided any more – graphite brushes any more are not delivered as spare parts. If they were erased, it is necessary to change completely a regulator.
But if someone can get graphite brushes in a workshop on repair of the electrotechnical equipment of cars as spare parts, can make separate replacement: in this case the soldering iron, solder and, except that, ability to solder are necessary. The description resulted more low, concerns firm Bosch generator:

- Dismantle a regulator from the generator how it is described above.
- Отпаяйте connecting plaits, take out graphite brushes.
- Remove from old brushes press springs and put on new brushes.
- Solder connecting plaits.
- Use thus a little tin solder and work quickly that connecting plaits have not become impregnated with tin. Otherwise they will lose flexibility.

Council: At the dismantled regulator you can check up also copper contact rings of the core of the generator (on them движутся graphite brushes). If on them already there are scars extra earnings it is possible to chisel and polish them in a workshop on repair of the electrotechnical equipment of cars.

Generator dismantle
|
|
- Disconnect the wire of the accumulator connected to weight, differently there is a danger of short circuit.
- The four-cylinder engine: there, where is, unscrew a weight wire.
- Remove клиноребристый a belt (it is described in the head further).
- Dismantle the connected wire.
- Unscrew fixing bolts of a collar of the generator and take out them, hold thus the generator.
- The six-cylinder engine: remove клиноребристый a belt (it is described in the head further).
- Dismantle the bottom cover of an impellent compartment.
- Dismantle from below the connected wire and directing a stream of fresh air.
- Loosen the fixing bolts, remove the generator.
