The gauge of the indicator of level of fuel in a fuel tank

The basic case photographed here is usually pasted in a fuel tank; but here it is shown for the sake of presentation separately. Dismantle of the gauge of level of fuel (1) is possible after pressing a key (marksman). The pressed key removes blocking (2). It is possible to take out the gauge of level of fuel. |
Here you see a deaf flange of a fuel tank under the luggage carrier bottom.
At the left: by figures are designated:
1 – a returnable gasoline pipe line from injection system;
2 – a socket of connection of the fuel pump and the gauge of level of fuel;
3 – a gasoline pipe line of giving of fuel to injection system.
On the right: запорное the ring of the gauge of level of fuel here unscrews the special tool (2) by means of a rattle (1).

Assembly position of a deaf flange:
The arrow on a flange (1 or 2) should be opposite to a mark in a fuel tank (3). In cars with a drive on forward and on all wheels in each case there is a corresponding arrow. |
The gauge is inserted from above into the case of an inlet collector inside in the middle of a fuel tank. How it works, you will find Tools and devices in the head.
Because of the different form of fuel tanks there are also different gauges of level of fuel for front-wheel and all-wheel drive models. An identification sign: the gauge of level of fuel with a rectangular float for models with a forward drive; the gauge of level of fuel for quattro – with a spherical float.

- Cast away a floor covering of a luggage carrier.
- Unscrew a black metal cover.
- Mark a gasoline pipe line of giving and fuel return – arrows on branch pipes gasoline pipe lines show a direction of movement of a stream.
- Remove both gasoline pipe lines after opening of collars.
- Unscrew plastic накидные nuts. More often they sit very strongly. Therefore put, whenever possible, a stupid screw-driver on an edge of a nut and ослабьте a nut easy blows of a hammer on the screw-driver handle. If it is necessary, establish it on different edges of a nut.
- Now it is possible to pull a little upwards a deaf flange of a fuel tank.
- If it is necessary, dismantle on an underside of a deaf flange a returnable gasoline pipe line and an electric wire.
- Mark assembly position of a hose and a wire for the subsequent assemblage.
- Now undertake a fuel tank a hand and take out the gauge, simultaneously having wrung out a fixing ledge from the case of an inlet collector.
- Disconnect a socket of the gauge of level of fuel on a deaf flange.
- Before assemblage moisten with gasoline a sealing ring of a deaf flange.
- Assembly position of a deaf flange: the arrow on a flange should be opposite to a mark in a fuel tank. Cars with a drive on forward and on all wheels have own arrow for each case.
