The oil pump
At full gas the oil pump pumps over through the engine about 30 l of oil a minute:
- In the four-cylinder engine the intermediate shaft puts in action a shaft which bottom part puts in action the oil pump.
- In the 16-cylinder engine the oil pump is established on коленвале ahead in the direction of travel.

For good "state of health" of the engine the oil temperature has crucial importance. Driver Audi can receive this information only from the built in additional devices. We will compare for interest engine temperature on a flange of the oil filter or on the oil pump; there temperature of greasing the lowest. On the contrary, on piston rings the oil temperature reaches 300 С.
If you go by the car with the thermometer for measurement of temperature of oil: Audi considers 145 С in картере as as much as possible admissible temperature. Though a condition of it is presence of high-quality oil according to the instruction.
Too low temperature of oil is harmful to the engine also. In this case oil yet has not reached the full lubricant ability. Whenever possible, after start of the cold engine do not lift turns above 3500 in mines until oil will not be warmed up approximately to 60 С. The Reference point considers that fact that to oil it is necessary for twice more time, than a cooling liquid to reach the working temperature.
Pressure of oil
If in yours Audi A4 the gauge of pressure of oil or if you can connect to the engine the gauge of pressure of oil in a workshop instead of the switch of pressure of oil it is possible to supervise independently its pressure within accuracy of the measuring device is built in. A check condition: temperature of oil 80 С. Following indicators Should be received:
- Pressure of oil idling: 1–2,5 bar.
- Pressure of oil at 3000 rpm: 3–5 bar.
