The brake amplifier
The auxiliary effort is provided at the expense of the lowered pressure in an inlet collector. The brake amplifier is connected with an inlet collector a hose. At braking the difference between atmospheric pressure and the lowered pressure in an inlet collector displaces the big elastic membrane and puts additional pressure upon pistons in the main brake cylinder. If the engine does not work, сервоуправление too cannot develop (additional) brake effort. If on the journey the engine suddenly stops, at you some reserve for several braking still remains.
